Vila Nova De Milfontes, Portugal

While on my bicycle journey through Portugal I found a quaint little town called Vila Nova De Milfontes. It was so beautiful that I ended up there for about a month, staying in the Casa Amarela guest house.

Bike Journey in Portugal

Wade and I went to Portugal for a bike adventure. We bought Bikes in Lisbon and rode off into the sunset along the coast. For more on this adevnture visit Wanderjahr Jill's Bicycle Adventure

This is our basic camping set-up in Portugal. One tarp on the bottom, one tarp on the top, and sleeping bags in between.

This is a photo of a beach outside of Setubal; where we stopped to spend the day sun bathing and relaxing.

This is a photo of the highway that we rode on along the coast of Portugal. There are not many cars, so it is a safe choice for bike riding.

The many rivers along the coastline of Portugal require many ferry crossings.

This is a photo of another ferry boat in Portugal.

This is a photo of my bicycle before I started out. It is all packed and ready, but I soon found out it was entirely too heavy and wobbly to ride. I made panniers out of a couple of bags, and used an old milk crate for a basket.

Wade is excited about heading out!

Wade is carrying less stuff, but it was still too heavy of a load.

Bald on the ferry.

Photos by Night in London, England

Nightlife in London is hopping, but very expensive. Wade and I opted for a bottle of wine at a grocery store, instead of buying pints of beer for $10 at local bars. We sat near the Tower of London, and walked across the replica of the London Bridge, singing all the way.

The subway(or underground) in London is called the Tube.

Photo of a local Pub in the streets of London, Wade likes the name.

The night lights of London from across the Thames River.

Photos of London, England by Day

Before venturing to India in 2006, Wade and I took a stopover in London, England. It felt very right to visit the UK before visiting its colony of India. Basically we just walked around all over London, saw a few sites, somehow walked right passed Big Ben without seeing it, and dug into the old romance of the Thames River and the old alleyways of London.

Photo of the Thames river. If i would have looked the other direction I would have a photo of Big Ben instead of this.

Wade, looking greasy and gross on the tube in London. I like the London underground! Mind the Gap!

Photo of the Ferris Wheel on the Thames River, London. What is this thing?

The Quaint streets of London, and Wade smashing it up like a punk rocker!

See what I mean? OI!

Magic Art Garden, South Street, Philadelphia

These are photos of the art garden on South Street called Philadelphia's Magic Garden. Many artists and craftsmen have come together to create this unique, awesome mosaic piece. The mosaic tile artwork can be found all over the street, leaking out of its cage. Broken bottles, ceramic tiles, found objects, and everything imaginable is glued to this building. It was started by Isaiah and Julia Zagar, and they have fought long and hard to keep the building for a community, public art space. Check it out if you are ever on South Street!

Mirrors, Bike tires, recycled art.

My friend Josh standing in front of the mosaic tiles which resemble Picasso's work.

Even the entire interior of the house is tiled.
