Reclining Buddha at Wat Lokayasutharam, Ayutthaya

These are photos of the reclining Buddha at Wat Lokayasutharam in Ayutthaya Thailand. This is one of the must see sites of the city. This Buddha image is 37 meters long and 8 meters high, and one of the largest in Thailand. This reclining position portrays the Buddha as he passed away peacefully.

On the day that I visited this temple, the Buddha image was being cleaned.

Thai people still come to Wat Lokayasutharam to pay their respects to the Buddha by offering lotus flowers and incense.

This Buddha image is constructed of brick which is covered by cement. This is the classic construction style that is seen in the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya.

Buddhist Temples at Tibetan Refugee Camp in Bylakuppe

These are photos of Tibetan Buddhist temples at the Tibetan refugee camp in Bylakuppe, India. At the camp there are many temples where Tibetan monks live. The monks left Tibet because of religious persecution.

Hassan II Mosque Morocco Photographs

These are more photographs of the Hassan II Mosque in Morocco. I visited this mosque on my last day in Morocco, and watched the sun set over the ocean there. It was a nice goodbye to that country.

These are photos of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. This is a newly built mosque that is constructed over the ocean. Inside, the floor is made of glass so you can see the ocean while you are praying. Unfortunately I did not have the chance to go inside. Foreigners and non-Muslims can only go in the mosque on a tour. It is the largest mosque in Morocco, and the third largest mosque in the world, after the mosques in Mecca and Medina.

I guess since this is a pious Muslim country, teenagers tell their parents they are going to mosque, when they are really going to meet their boyfriends or girlfriends.

Palenque, Mexico Mayan Ruins Photos

Photos of Mayan Ruins at Palenque, Mexico. If you want to visit the ruins you can stay in the city of Palenque which is a few kilometers from the park. This is a quaint little Mexican village. You can get a hotel room for two people for about $20USD if you bargain with the hotels. To get to the Ruins there is a public bus that goes there. It costs 10 pesos ($1 USD) for the ride. When you enter the park you have to pay a National park fee of a few dollars and they give you a bracelet. You also have to pay $4.50 USD (45 pesos) for an entrance fee into the Ruins.
